Assignment description:

We are now looking for a Senior Architect within on-prem server infrastructure to our customer.

We need to replace ageing on-prem server installations based on VMware and are therefore launching a project to procure and implement new server solutions.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Architect supporting the organization in defining a future-proof target architecture for on-prem server and datacenter environments.

The assignment includes analysis and selection of server, virtualization, and storage platforms, as well as defining scalable, secure, and standardized infrastructure solutions.

The role involves close collaboration with business stakeholders, security, network, and cloud teams to ensure clear technical alignment and well-founded architecture decisions. The focus is on modernizing existing environments, cost efficiency, high availability, and a long-term platform strategy.

Assignment:

• Providing senior architectural expertise for the project.

• Analyzing and comparing various server, virtualization, and storage solutions to identify the best options.

• Recommendations regarding technology choices, sourcing, and cost structures

• Ensuring that all stakeholders are technically coordinated and informed throughout all project phases.

Core Competencies:

• Systems & Storage: Virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox), HCI, SAN, NAS, and Object Storage.

• Hybrid Cloud: Azure integration and hybrid environment bridging.

• Automation: IaC tools like Ansible, Terraform, and PowerShell DSC.

• Security & Resilience: IAM, PKI, backup strategies, and Disaster Recovery.

• Architecture: Capacity planning, platform standardization, and building reference models.

Requirements:

Must have:

10-15+ years in architect roles.

• Modernization: Leading migrations from legacy systems to modern platforms.

• Standardization: Creating blueprints for server templates and storage tiers.

• Container Readiness: Building on-prem stacks that support containerized apps.

• Collaboration: Working across security, network, and cloud teams on joint solutions.

• Sourcing: Handling technical due diligence and vendor evaluations.
