Assignment Description:
We are now looking for a very senior Optical Design Coordinator for a consulting assignment at our client, a global leading technology company within advanced system and camera solutions for the automotive industry. The assignment is a key role where you act as a technical link between internal development teams and customer-facing application projects.
About the assignment
In the role of Optical Design Coordinator (ODC), you will be the technical representative for Optical Systems towards the Application Project and serve as the main contact in technical discussions with OEMs and Tier-1 and Tier-2 suppliers. The focus is on ensuring correct assumptions for the use of camera systems (Assumptions of Use) and their installation in vehicles.
You work closely with both internal experts and external parties and contribute with deep technical expertise in optics and camera systems, always with business, customer relations and technical quality in focus.
Duties and Responsibilities
Be the main technical contact for Optical Systems in customer and supplier meetings run by the Application Project
Provide technical support and clarifications on optical design and camera AoU
Lead and coordinate customer-specific technical investigations and optical design activities
Participate in and drive technical discussions and design reviews with OEMs, Tier-1 and Tier-2
Support post-RFQ, including troubleshooting and handling of technical customer issues
Ensure documentation such as technical specifications, camera AoU and agreements with suppliers
Ensure that work tasks from application projects are taken care of in the Optical Systems backlog
Examples of tasks:
Conduct investigations on sensor performance in collaboration with sensor and camera suppliers
Coordinate work on light trap reflection properties and determine approved solutions together with the customer
Ensure which optical characterizations and data should be delivered for prototype cameras
Evaluate and test OEM proposals on opto-mechanical solutions, e.g. windshields and heating wires
Ensure correct test vehicle configuration
Requirements
At least 8 years of experience in systems engineering with a focus on optics and/or camera systems
Master's degree in engineering, physics, computer science or equivalent
(alternatively PhD with relevant experience)
Very high technical competence in optical design and camera systems
Experience in technical coordination and customer-oriented work
Ability to work independently with great responsibility
Strong communication skills in both speech and writing
Experience of working in complex organizations where technical decisions affect multiple functions
Level and responsibility
Works independently with limited control
Provides guidance to other team members
Contributes to decisions that affect more than one's own work group
Expected to be able to plan, prioritize and solve complex technical problems
